The Workshop on Solar District Heating in Ferrara, Italy takes place on the 29th and 30th of September 2011. It will be an international forum of exchange between interested and experienced heat suppliers, local utilities and communities who face the challenge to make their district heating grids more sustainable.
Due to the rising prices of fossil fuels, to the new legislation and incentives for renewables and to the growing needs for utilities to differentiate their energy sources, solar district heating (SDH) is becoming more and more a relevant and feasible component of the energy supply in district heating networks. This workshop’s objective is the facilitation of the development of new SDH plants, by assessing the technical and economic feasibility of these solutions in several different country-specific conditions. The workshop will be an international forum of exchange between interested and experienced decision makers and experts from heat suppliers, local utilities and local communities who face the challenge to make their district heating grids more sustainable. In particular, the status in Italy will be reported, highlighting the currently ongoing feasibility studies for the first SDH plants to be realized.
