Description

Based on the intention of the inhabitants, the utilities of Hechingen and the City of Hechingen, a development area should be supplied by a district heating network with a high fraction of renewable energies aiming for 100 % renewable energy supply. In execution of this study, local renewable energy sources are identified and possible concepts for a heat supply are developed and evaluated by dynamic system simulations. The aim is to use solar thermal and geothermal energies and to avoid a usage of biomass.

Client

Stadtwerke Hechingen (Utilities of Hechingen)

Partner

  • Steinbeis Research Institute Solites (DE)
  • Stadtwerke Hechingen (DE) (utilities of Hechingen)
  • City of Hechingen (DE)
  • TEWAG – Engineering Office for Geothermal Energy (DE)

Aim

  • Determination of the cooling and heating demand of the development area „Killberg IV“ in Hechingen
  • Development of the heat supply concepts with high levels of renewable energies
  • Economic and ecological assessment of the concepts

Implementation

Solites supports the utilities of Hechingen to implement the project which is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) as a project called “Wärmenetze 4.0”. The study and consultation includes following aspects:

  • Determination of the cooling and heating demand of the development area „Killberg IV“ in Hechingen
  • Identification of local energy sources
  • Development of divers heat supply concepts
  • Simulation study for the technical evaluation of the concepts
  • Economic and ecological assessment of the concepts
